Hello? Anybody still here?

Au revoir, flashcards

September 29, 2014 |  4 responses

After several months of being posted in Apptopia, just last week I completed the sale of all my flashcard apps (and widgets)! If you recall, the flashcard apps were my very first apps, way back in 2011. It was a different world then. I started developing these apps even before having an Android device, and…     Read more »

Thank you, Earth

One of the satisfactions that developing software brings is knowing that your work helps others. I popped into Google Analytics today and decided to see in which countries my flashcard apps have been used since the end of January, when I added analytics. A nice surprise was to see that in just about 2 months…     Read more »

I’ve always thought that: A large percentage of code can be easily reused to make more stuff Making stuff doesn’t have to be expensive I didn’t set out to prove this, but I think I did with my second published game in 2 weeks! I don’t remember exactly what went through my mind at the moment, but given the Flappy Bird craze and subsequent Flappy Bird clone craze, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and give it a shot myself. I’ve tried other clones and I haven’t found one that I really like. It’s not just the flying…     Read more »

And the new website is…

… still on auction on Godaddy. Yep. Weeks of waiting until there was one week left, then one day… then one hour… then… wait for it… 90 days. My strategy for winning an awesome new domain on auction was based on the well know technique of sniping. I had carefully placed reminders all over, and…     Read more »

The new Software as a Living is coming soon

June 12, 2013 |  4 responses

After several weeks of reading tons of blogs about search engine optimization, long tail keywords, page ranks and related topics I came to the realization that I’m not using any of those techniques for this site and could be missing out on some benefits because of that. Although initially my focus was for this blog…     Read more »

Next ideas

June 11, 2013 |  4 responses

As you read in my previous posts, I currently have some “extra time” on my hands due to the unexpected end of ThankBee. I’m just about finished with the Electrician Calculator for iOS and hope to send it off for Apple’s review process in a couple of weeks. So, I’m thinking about my next steps….     Read more »

If you’re reading this, you already have everything you need to make your first app

A fellow developer asked me the following questions via email: I don’t have a smartphone, so I haven’t really had the opportunity to break into app development. What are your thoughts on starting as an app developer? Do you feel like it was easy to get started? How did you come up with the ideas?…     Read more »
